City leaders of Ranchi have once again raised their flag in the Freedom to Walk, Cycle and Run Challenge organized annually by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs of the Central Government. Under this challenge, 15 state government officials from Ranchi took part in various competitions in two quarters. In this challenge organized in two quarters, Ranchi has got third position in the country for Freedom to Walk.
Kunal Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Central Government, gave this honour in the felicitation ceremony organized at Pimpri-Chinavad on Saturday, 13 January 2024. On behalf of Ranchi Smart City, City Leaders Team member General Manager Rakesh Kumar Nandakuliar and Public Relations Officer Amit Kumar received this honour for Ranchi.
In the same individual competition category, for Freedom to Walk, Rakesh Kumar Nandakuliar, General Manager Technical, Ranchi Smart City, has got second and third position in Quarter One and Quarter 2 respectively. Nandakuliar was given two certificates by the Ministry for both the quarters. In the past too, Nandakuliar has been honoured in the individual category in this competition.
It is noteworthy that a two-day national level workshop was organized in Pimpri-Chinavad by the Smart City Mission under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, in which information was given about the programs being conducted across the country on Streets and Public Space. Many live activities were also conducted. In this program, posters of the place making work done under the joint aegis of Ranchi Smart City Corporation and Ranchi Municipal Corporation, re-development of Zakir Hussain Park and place making done near Morabadi Maidan respectively were also put up by the Mission. Apart from this, posters based on roadside footpaths and cycle tracks were also put up in the exhibition in the ABD area of Ranchi Smart City.
