Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Thursday filed a complaint against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh for violating Model Code of Conduct (MCC) with Election Commission of India (ECI) for misusing government machinery and accommodation for promotion of AAP’s political interest in the coming parliamentary elections.

SAD’s chief spokesperson and legal cell head Arshdeep Singh Kler, in a written complaint filed with the ECI, said that Chief Minister Mann and MP Sanjay Singh, in total misuse of their political positions, have violated the model code of conduct by misusing the CM official residence and the Punjab Government media platform and other resources to propagate AAP’s political agenda.

“These persons violated the MCC by using CM residence by organizing political meetings of the Ministers to discuss the political strategy with regards to general elections qua which Minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra have disclosed the same to the media,” said Kler, substantiating his claims by providing a video along.

The SAD leader said that action, on the part of the political persons, being in power is a total misuse of government machinery and other platforms with the sole purpose of propagating or advertising their political agenda at the cost of public exchequer of the State of Punjab.

He added that these are “malpractices”, which are clear cut violation of provision of the model code of conduct”, while demanding strict action against the guilty.
