Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy on Friday said that he accepts the challenge of Baghmara MLA Dhullu Mahto, the BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate for Dhanbad and will soon launch a stir to root out corruption, rangdari and organised crime at BCCL coal loading and other points located in Baghmara area.
Talking to media in Dhanbad Roy said that he decided this soon after his name was taken by the Baghmara MLA claiming that he is behind the letter sent by Dhanbad District Marwari Sammelan president Krishna Agrawal to BJP state and national president opposing Dhulu Mahto’s candidature.
It's worth mentioning that, shocked by the selection of a controversial MLA, the Marwari community, which happens to be traditional voters of BJP, had written to the duo.
Krishna Agrawal in his letter sent on Friday, had mentioned that Marwari community and district traders are apprehensive against the selection as 49 cases related to extortion demand, land grab allegation, and others are pending against the Baghmara MLA. In four cases, he has been convicted for up to 18 months.
In his letter , Krishna Agrawal also has pointed out Dhullu Mahto is the first BJP candidate in the 2024 Lok Sabha election across the country who is holding the flag of AITUC (CPI) in one hand and doing politics while keeping the BJP flag in another for protection.
On these grounds Agarwal on behalf of the Marwari community requested party leaders to reconsider the candidature of Dhullu Mahto.
Mahto and Agarwal, soon after the letter was released to the press, had a telephonic conversation in which the Baghmara MLA had challenged Roy, telling Krishna that he knows who is behind this game.
Roy said the audio clip has been sent to the Election Commission with a request to take action.
" When the Commission can take action in West Bengal in a similar case, why not in Jharkhand ", he questioned.
Roy said that he in no case is willing to contest Lok Sabha elections as still has to repay the people of East Jamshedpur as MLA.
He said ED must intervain and investigate who is releasing Rs 1200 per tonne of rangdari from loading points of BCCL in Baghmara area as it comes under money laundering case and how a simple man had turned into man of crore.
