Workshop on Remote Sensing and GIS concludes at BIT, Sindri

he one-week workshop on "Applications of Remote Sensing and GIS in Research," sponsored by JCSTI, Ranchi concluded on Saturday here.

 The Valedictory session was graced by distinguished dignitaries including Prof. (Dr.) A.P. Krishna, BIT Mesra, Prof. (Dr.) D.K. Singh, Vice Chancellor, JUT Ranchi, Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Rai, Director, BIT Sindri, Dhanbad, Jharkhand.

The workshop commenced with a welcome address by its convenor and Head of the Department, Dr. Jitu Kujur who stressed its significance. He pointed out that the event offered a unique opportunity for researchers and students to gain practical insights into the latest technological advancements. Dr. Kujur emphasized the importance of understanding how these emerging technologies can be applied in real-world scenarios, and highlighted the workshop as a platform to connect theoretical learning with hands-on experience.

Dr. Komal Kumari, Assistant Professor and Coordinator ARSGISR, presented a comprehensive summary of the workshop's activities, key takeaways from all resource persons and participant engagement.

Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Rai, Director, BIT Sindri hailed the workshop as a significant achievement for the Civil Engineering Department and appreciated the efforts of the organising committee. He stressed the importance of such workshops in the development of the institute and their role in guiding research efforts.

Prof. (Dr.) D. K. Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Jharkhand University of Technology, joined through the web and encouraged the participants. He described the workshop as a milestone for the institute’s growth and discussed its multifaceted benefits. Dr. Singh also highlighted the relevance of remote sensing and GIS in various fields today, such as environmental monitoring, urban planning and disaster management. He underscored the significance of multidisciplinary work and praised the ongoing technical activities at the Civil Engineering Department, BIT Sindri. He extended his sincere gratitude to the Director, BIT Sindri and Head of the Department, Civil Engineering.

Prof. (Dr.) A.P. Krishna, Professor, BIT Meara, Ranchi, Jharkhand, Chief Guest for the session, shared valuable insights related to the workshop’s theme and provided motivational remarks, inspiring the participants to apply their newfound knowledge in their respective fields.

The session culminated with the Certificate Distribution Ceremony, where participants were recognized for their dedication and active involvement throughout the workshop. The certificates were presented by dignitaries.The event concluded with feedback from the participants, who expressed their appreciation for the workshop's relevance and depth.The Co-Ordinator of ARSGISR, Dr. Komal Kumari, Assistant Professor, BIT Sindri, Dhanbad, Jharkhand, delivered the Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the organizers, speakers, and participants who made the workshop a resounding success. Special thanks was given to the efforts of Prof. Iqbal Sheikh who worked consistently as Co-Coordinator and contributed remarkably in event success. Dr. Kumari also remembered and praised the efforts of Prof. Nipen Kumar Das who helped in shaping this event at the starting phase of preparations. This five-day workshop witnessed active participation from BIT Sindri faculty, researchers, and participants from other institutions.
