Collector Roshan Kumar Singh conducted a comprehensive review of ongoing and proposed projects related to the Simhastha 2028 preparations. Emphasizing the importance of adhering to deadlines without compromising quality, he directed officials to maintain a brisk pace of execution from the outset to ensure projects are completed on or ahead of schedule.
During the meeting, the Collector reviewed the progress of key infrastructure works, including the Kanh Closed Duct Project and the Sewarkhedi-Silarkhedi Project, urging officials to meet established progress targets. He stressed the need for officers to take personal responsibility for securing all necessary departmental and regulatory approvals and to maintain continuous coordination with their superiors regarding project status.
Updates on the much-anticipated Freeganj Railway Overbridge revealed that the executing agency has been appointed and work has commenced. Collector Singh highlighted the critical importance of completing this vital city infrastructure project within the stipulated timeframe.
Regarding other bridge projects, such as the Lalpur Bridge and those overseen by the Setu Nigam, he instructed officials to maintain regular communication with railway authorities to expedite the required clearances and approvals.
The Collector also reviewed the Ujjain Municipal Corporation’s development works, including the city’s sewerage system, road widening initiatives, and construction of pumping stations. He asked for detailed progress reports expressed in percentage terms. Additionally, he directed that the Kothi Road project be developed as a model road, with completion of divider painting, street lighting, and plantation work.
The meeting was attended by District Panchayat CEO Jayati Singh, Municipal Commissioner Ashish Pathak, and district-level officers from the relevant departments.
Singh also emphasized the importance of effective resource management and urged departments to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the project execution. He highlighted that these developments not only serve the immediate needs of the Simhastha festival but also contribute to the long-term urban development and improved quality of life for the residents of Ujjain. The Collector called for regular progress monitoring meetings and encouraged officials to promptly address any challenges or bottlenecks to avoid delays.
