Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha held a public grievance hearing (Janata Darbar) on Tuesday at the Collectorate, where he directed all Block Development Officers (BDOs) and Circle Officers (COs) to address public issues effectively at the block and circle levels. He instructed that Janata Darbars must be held every Tuesday to ensure timely redressal and that citizens should not be harassed unnecessarily.
The DC expressed concern that most grievances received at the district-level Janata Darbar were related to land and revenue matters, which ideally should be resolved at the block or circle level. He urged officials to improve this situation immediately and asked Additional Collector Md. Mumtaz Ansari to ensure compliance.
During the hearing, the DC personally listened to over 42 cases from both rural and urban areas and issued instructions for immediate resolution. Several complaints were resolved on the spot, while others were forwarded to the concerned departments with a one-week deadline for disposal.
Applications received included issues related to BSL, agriculture, health, Chas Municipal Corporation, public distribution system, land encroachment, revenue matters, drinking water and sanitation, social welfare, DPLR, education, and others.
In a separate meeting, representatives of various social organizations such as Gurdwara Committees and environmental groups met the DC to congratulate him on his posting and submitted their concerns.
Among those present during the event were District Transport Officer Vandana Shejwalkar, District Public Relations Officer Ravi Kumar, Assistant Director (Social Security) Piyush, District Social Welfare Officer Dr. Suman Gupta, and Assistant PRO Avinash Kumar Singh, along with other officials.
