A week-long Faculty Development Program (FDP) on the fundamentals of Remote Sensing and GIS from 26th May to 31st May, 2025 successfully concluded, equipping participants with essential technical skills and knowledge in geospatial technologies. Hosted by the Department of Geography, St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi. The program saw enthusiastic participation from 34 faculty members and researchers representing Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh.
The FDP featured distinguished resource persons from Delhi University, BIT Mesra, JSAC, IGNOU, DSPMU, and XISS, who shared their expertise through engaging lectures and interactive discussions. A key highlight of the program was the hands-on training sessions, where participants actively worked with QGIS software and GPS applications, gaining practical experience in geospatial data analysis.
The event provided a unique platform for collaboration, fostering knowledge exchange and professional networking among academicians. Participants expressed appreciation for the in-depth insights and training received, emphasizing the program’s role in enhancing their research and teaching capabilities. Valedictory session was graced by Head of the University Department of Geography, Ranchi University, Ranchi and St. Xavier’s College Principal- Fr. Dr. Robert Pradeep Kujur.

The success of this FDP marks another step in promoting the application of geospatial technologies in various domains.
