In a first, authorities in Indore have initiated proceedings to cancel plot registrations in illegal colonies, with developers also required to refund the amount paid by buyers.
Collector Ashish Singh has directed the Colony Cell to initiate the process of nullifying registrations in cases where FIRs have been filed, or court proceedings are ongoing, and the colonies have been officially declared illegal. Colonisers will be legally bound to return the money received from buyers.
The decision came during a review meeting chaired by Singh. Officials present included District Panchayat CEO Siddharth Jain, IDA CEO RP Ahirwar, Additional Collector Rinkesh Vaishya, Rajendra Raghuvanshi, and Nisha Damor.
Singh said that unauthorised colonies contribute to unplanned urban expansion, posing long-term risks to the development of the city. He emphasised that strict action is being taken against such colonisers, with multiple FIRs already filed.
Alongside this, the city’s traffic improvement campaign will resume. The drive had been temporarily suspended during the cleanliness survey but will now continue with renewed focus.
The Collector also reviewed pending complaints filed under the CM Helpline. He instructed all departments to treat these grievances as a top priority alongside regular departmental duties.
He stressed that complaints received via the CM Helpline must be resolved in a timely, satisfactory, and constructive manner. Public trust in the administration, he said, depends on effective problem-solving.
Any negligence or indifference by officials in addressing complaints will lead to strict disciplinary action. Singh also assessed progress on cases registered under the Public Service Guarantee Act and directed timely resolution of revenue-related matters.
