Make voter list close to 100% satisfaction: CEC Gyanesh Kumar

Chief Election Commissioner of India Gyanesh Kumar today inaugurated the two-day capacity-building training program organized for Booth Level Officers (BLOs), BLO Supervisors, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), District Election Officers (DEOs) and Booth Awareness Groups/Booth Level Volunteers (BLVs) of Jharkhand at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM), New Delhi.

The CEC said that the Election Commission of India follows the guidelines mentioned in the Constitution of India, Representation of the People Rules 1950, Rules of Election etc. He said that during his visit to various states, he got the opportunity to see the working style of the employees working at the ground level there, impressed by which an initiative has been taken, under which BLOs from various states of the country are being called to Delhi and given training.

Kumar further said that during his visit to Jharkhand, he got the opportunity to meet the BLO sisters of Dasham Waterfall, their knowledge of the subjects related to elections is very impressive. He praised the work of all the stakeholders related to elections in Jharkhand and also said that after the past voter revision programs, not a single appeal has been filed against the voter list prepared in Jharkhand. This is a commendable achievement, but we also have to educate all the voters that if they disagree with the voter list in any way, then they can appeal to the District Election Officer and an appeal can also be made at the level of the Chief Election Officer against his decision. He said that we have to prepare the voter list with 100 percent satisfaction by educating all the people so that its shine remains like a diamond.

Addressing the participants, he said that one of the objectives of the training is to remove any misconceptions about the voting process and EVMs among the voters. EVMs and VVPATs have been matched more than 5 crore times but till date not a single mistake has been found. It is completely safe and gives the same results that the voters want.

Gyanesh Kumar said that the Election Commission becomes the world's largest organization by incorporating other people on deputation at the time of elections and conducts voting in the same process at 10.5 lakh polling stations. Along with voting, all 10.5 lakh BLOs and booth level agents of political parties work together in coordination to prepare the voter list.

On the first day of the two-day program, the participants were given point-wise training on yoga practice, group photograph, and various topics related to the election process by election experts Dr. Shashi Shekhar Reddy, Dev Das Dutta, Chand Kishore Sharma, Prabhas Dutta.

On this occasion, Director General IIIDEM Rakesh Kumar Verma, Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Manish Garg, Deputy Election Commissioner Ajit Kumar, Deputy Election Commissioner Sanjay Kumar, Chief Electoral Officer Jharkhand K. Ravi Kumar and various stakeholders related to the election of Jharkhand were present.
