Saturday, 14 June 2025 | PNS | Indore

n an important step toward integrating India’s ancient knowledge with modern academia, Prestige Institute of Management and Research (PIMR), Indore, successfully hosted a Faculty Development Program (FDP) themed “Integrating Indian Knowledge Wisdom with Higher Education System.” The event, organized under the Centre for Indian Knowledge System (IKS) and the Institute’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), highlighted PIMR's commitment to culturally grounded, value-driven education.

Dr. S.S. Bhakar, Group Director, in his address, emphasized PIMR’s pioneering efforts in reviving Indian Knowledge Systems. “Through our curriculum, workshops, and thematic events, we are fostering an educational model that combines India’s rich heritage with contemporary learning,” he stated, underscoring the institute's dedication to holistic, value-based education.

Dr. Deepak Jaroliya, Director of IQAC, spoke about the FDP's mission to bridge the gap between modern education and the timeless wisdom of Indian civilization. “By reconnecting academia with the principles of Indian civilization, we aim to address the shortcomings of Western-centric educational frameworks and create a more meaningful learning experience,” he said.

Dr. Harsh Purohit, Dean of FMS-WISDOM and Officiating Dean of the Jamnalal Bajaj School of Legal Studies at Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan, shared innovative models for embedding IKS principles into management disciplines like Finance, Marketing, and Human Resources. “Dharma-based decision-making, community-focused entrepreneurship, and ethical wealth creation are essential for reshaping mainstream management education,” he emphasized.

Drawing inspiration from India’s Gurukul traditions, Dr. Ankur Joshi, Visiting Faculty at Vrije University, Netherlands, stressed the importance of character development alongside skill-building. “Indian Knowledge Systems offer a holistic approach that modern education often overlooks. Reviving this focus is critical for nurturing ethical, well-rounded leaders,” he noted.

The program attracted faculty members from leading management institutes nationwide, who actively participated in interactive workshops, experiential exercises, and reflective discussions. These sessions explored practical applications of IKS, such as using cultural storytelling in marketing, sustainable investment principles in finance, and value-centric leadership in human resources. The event was coordinated by Dr. Minal Uprety and Dr. Jaya Jaisinghani.
