Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday virtually inaugurated six redeveloped railway stations in Madhya Pradesh as part of the nationwide redevelopment of 103 stations under the Amrit Bharat Mission. The event was attended by Madhya Pradesh BJP state president and Member of Parliament Vishnudutt Sharma, and Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, who participated in the program held at Katni South railway station.

Addressing the gathering, Vishnudutt Sharma said that the inauguration of the redeveloped stations, including Katni South, is a significant achievement for the state. He congratulated the people of Madhya Pradesh and expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Modi, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav for their commitment to enhancing railway infrastructure in the state.

Sharma highlighted that the redevelopment of 103 railway stations across the country under the Amrit Bharat Mission reflects the BJP government’s progressive development vision. He said, “It is a matter of pride for Madhya Pradesh that six stations from the state, including Katni South, were included in this ambitious project. These upgraded stations will provide modern, world-class facilities to rail passengers.”

He added that the redevelopment of Katni South station, at a cost of Rs 13 crore, has given it a grand new look. The newly constructed railway overbridge (grade separator) at Katni is not only unique in Madhya Pradesh but also one of its kind in Asia, setting new standards in infrastructure.

Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla expressed his appreciation for Prime Minister Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, stating that the country is making rapid progress towards the vision of a developed India. He said, “The BJP government in Madhya Pradesh, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, is committed to the overall development of the state. Efforts are ongoing to strengthen health services and ensure that the benefits of public welfare schemes reach every citizen.”

Shukla further emphasized that the redevelopment of railway stations will not only improve passenger facilities but also increase railway revenue from Madhya Pradesh, boosting economic growth and connectivity across the state.

In a related development, the Madhya Pradesh government has allotted land to Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) for establishing a rail coach manufacturing plant in the state. This initiative will pave the way for the production of modern rail coaches in Madhya Pradesh, further strengthening the state's role in the country’s expanding railway infrastructure sector.

The establishment of the BEML rail coach manufacturing plant is expected to create significant employment opportunities in the region, boosting the local economy and enhancing the skill base of the workforce. Officials believe that this initiative will attract further investments in the state’s industrial sector and position Madhya Pradesh as a key player in India’s railway manufacturing ecosystem.

Experts also highlight that the modern facilities at the redeveloped stations and the upcoming manufacturing unit will improve passenger experience and operational efficiency, aligning with India’s broader goals of modernizing transportation infrastructure. Enhanced connectivity and quality services are likely to spur tourism and business activities, benefiting cities and towns across Madhya Pradesh.

The government’s proactive approach in integrating infrastructure development with industrial growth reflects its commitment to holistic progress. With continued support from the central government, Madhya Pradesh is poised to become a model state showcasing how coordinated efforts can drive sustainable development and improve the quality of life for its citizens.
