Self-love is something that is quite neglected these days due to juggling between work and personal life, completing deadlines etc. What we forget is to pause and take care of ourselves. Self-love is choosing small activities that are great for your mental, physical and emotional health.
Prioritising self-love with simple gestures helps you handle stress better, improves your focus, and brings a sense of balance amidst the chaos. However, many people believe self-love requires time they don’t have. The good news? Just five minutes a day is enough to reset your mind, recharge your energy, and reconnect with yourself.
As a life coach, my goal is to help people integrate self-love into their daily routines in a way that feels effortless and meaningful. These simple yet powerful practices don’t require major effort, just a willingness to pause and check in with yourself.
Self-love isn’t about finding extra time, rather it’s about making small, intentional choices. Even on the busiest days, these five-minute practices can boost your confidence, shift your mindset, and remind you of your worth.
Five simple self-love practices
Start Your Day with Affirmations - Stand in front of the mirror and speak positivity into existence. Say aloud “I am capable of achieving my goals.â€, “I am strong, resilient, and worthy of success.â€, “I choose to love and accept myself as I am.†Affirmations shape your mindset for the day, boost self-confidence, and set the tone for positivity and self-acceptance.
Reset with Deep Breathing
- Inhale for 4 seconds
- Hold for 4 seconds
- Exhale for 6 seconds
Cultivate Gratitude in a Journal - Take a moment to jot down three things you’re grateful for, no matter how small. Whether it’s your morning coffee, a kind conversation, or simply the ability to take a deep breath, gratitude shifts your perspective and fosters contentment.
Visualise Your Best Self - Close your eyes and picture yourself thriving such as achieving your goals, radiating confidence, and living with joy.
Give Yourself a One-Minute Hug - Wrap your arms around yourself and whisper words of encouragement. Physical touch releases oxytocin, the feel-good hormone, instantly providing comfort.
