Raipur District Electoral Officer (DEO) and Collector Basavaraju S stated on Sunday that all necessary security arrangements have been made at the EVM Strong Room at Government Engineer College Premises, Sejbahar located on outskirts of the city.
“All necessary arrangements have been made for ‘campers’, the political parties agents/representatives want to stay near the strong room,’’ Basavaraju informed.
The Government Engineering College building vacated by Indian Institute of Management has been used for storing the EVMs as strong rooms after the two-phased polling concluded on November 20. It has also been converted into as the counting centre. Votes will be counted on December 11.
“Two layered security arrangement has been put in place at Strong Room site, all these areas have been monitored constantly through CCTV,’’ he claimed.
The political parties’ candidates and their agents have been given access to projector displays and the CCTV footages, so that everyone can watch all kind of movements near Strong Room,” he added.
“Outside the 100 metres limits of the Strong Room, tents and other facilities have been put up for agents or representatives of the candidates to stay. They can make the close vigil round the clock,’’ said Basavaraju
“Permissions are being granted on regular basis for parties’ agents/representatives who want to stay outside the Strong Room’’ he added.
