Immunity, sound health, exercise and good nutrition are essential to fight covid-19  as stated by doctors. Keeping this advisory in mind, the jail administration started Modern Gymnasium and Yoga sessions for the inmates of Aligarh Jail. And the prisoners here are doing exercise  and yoga, eating healthy organic food to successfully fight with this pandemic situation. In the 3 months long lockdown, the jail administration planned for the sound health of the inmates and prepared the Modern Gymnasium in the jail. Now after the opening of Lockdown, the prisoners have been allowed to exercise in the Gym and social distancing is being followed there. Jail administration is influencing them towards fitness and yoga to have a sound health.

Now prisoners in Aligarh jail can stay fit and build muscles. Jail authorities have opened a fully equipped gymnasium for the inmates. They say that  the gymnasium in Aligarh jail will provide the prisoners oppotunities to develop their health amidst this pandemic.

Senior Jail Supritendent Alok Singh said motive behind starting a gymnasium is that with sound health and nutrition, they will be able to deal with this pandemic situation as well as, sound health will also improve their way of thinking and they will return back to society in a positive frame of mind.

“What's unique is that most of these exercising machines in the gyn have been made and built by the inmates themselves, using waste materials”.

The jail authorities in Aligarh have been making efforts to keep the prisoners in a positive and healthy environment. Camps of yoga and fitness teachers have been held to make prisoners aware of the fitness and sound health.

Alok Singh said that prisoners have been provided special uniforms for gym sessions. He told that we are awaring them of the health threat going on and thus they are influencing them to focus towards sound health and nutrition. Regular camps are being organised to address health related issues of the prisoners.

Alok Singh reiterated that even women prisoners are not lagging behind and are being influenced towards sound health and nutrition . They are also recieving training and yoga guidance regularly.

This will definitely help themselves to stay calm and build up a good health as well.
