A long dispute between villagers and a coal mining company came to an end after the administration interfered. Both sides agreed for an amicable settlement of the dispute.

As per information, the Adani group is exploring coal from Talabira mines 2 and 3 under Khinda Gram Panchayat of Rengali Tehsil.

But the unfortunate part is that the temple of the ‘Grama Devi’ comes under the mining area and the company authority wanted to shift it to a suitable place to which the villagers protested as they have been worshiping the ‘presiding deity’ of the village since time immemorial.

But both mining and worship can’t go side by side. So there was utter dissatisfaction among the villagers and they protested the shifting. Hence the local administration led by the SDPO Tapan Kumar Mohanty, Tehsildar Sunil Kumar Meher, IIC of the local PSs Prakash Kumar Karna and Dhabaleswar Sahu organised a meeting of the villagers and company authorities to find a suitable solution.

And after a thorough discussion, both sides agreed for shifting the temple to a suitable place and the company authorities agreed to construct a new temple. It further agreed to appoint two Pujakas with monthly salary so that there would be no problem in management of the temple and the day -to -day rituals.

And after a successful discussion, the Gama Devi was shifted to a new place amidst deployment of massive police forces to avert any untoward situation.

Adani group VP Prasanna Kumar Panda in presence of the all senior officials of the district administration agreed to carry out all the constructive proposals so that the villagers would not feel hurt.
