A trader was robbed of Rs 10 lakh by two unidentified scooter-borne armed robbers in Ghaziabad. Police said that the incident occurred on Monday at about 11:00 am in posh commercial hub of Raj Nagar District Centre (RDC) in the city.
According to a senior police official, the cashier Nitin Sharma of KR Foods Private Limited, dealing in cow butter (Ghee) product came to deposit the cash of rupees ten lakh in the RDC branch of HDFC bank.
“As he stepped out of his car, two robbers intercepted him and on the gun point, they took the bag containing cash,” said the senior police official.
The robbers also brandished pistol in the air in the densely public movement in this commercial hub, a woman also became unconscious and fell on the road. The by passers took her to a nearby open barandah where she gained consciousness.
“The cashier, immediately phoned his employer and the police simultaneously which reached the spot and inspected the crime scene,” said Ghaziabad police.
Prior to this incident, eight dacoits had barged into the residence of a businessman and looted cash and jewelry worth over rupees ten lakh at gunpoint in Raj Nagar posh locality. The incident occurred at 3:30 am Sunday.
The Superintendent of Police (SP) City Nipun Agrawal said “that as the police received information it barricaded the entire area but the criminals succeeded in fleeing away”.
A case has been registered and the investigation has been initiated, added the officer.
