Anti-encroachment drive conducted near Piska More for flyover

Sunday, 28 August 2022 | `PNS | Ranchi

The District Administration and the National Highway Authority Limited (NHAI) team took action for the construction of a flyover from Ratu Road to Piska More in the State Capital. The authorities are removing more than 500 shops from OTC Ground to Piska More.

By the time the report was filed, more than 100 shops were removed. For the construction of Ratu Road Elevated Corridor (flyover), the administration deployed JCB and bulldozers on Saturday to break the house-shop on the side of the road. The Administration had been ordered to remove the shops themselves by giving notices earlier also, some had taken action to remove them. About 74 shops were given a notice to remove but most of the shopkeepers were not vacating the place. The police force was deployed by the administration on Saturday afternoon and the process of breaking the shops started from the construction company's JCB.

The shop owners have got compensation, but about 500 small and big shopkeepers running on rent have faced a crisis of employment. The shopkeepers say that they had received the notice only a few days ago, but suddenly on Friday evening, an order was received to vacate the shop. After this, the Administration team reached on Saturday and started breaking all the shops with bulldozers. The process of breaking the shops continues.

However, there was panic for some time after the shops were suddenly broken. Many shopkeepers also protested but not one went in front of the administration. After this, most of the shopkeepers have started vacating their shops. Some of them have also started making shops from behind at their place. They have also dropped the building material on the road.

Car accessories shop operator Shivam Soni said that due to the sudden action of the administration, he did not get a chance to remove the goods. There was a loss of more than 50-60 thousand rupees. Furniture was also broken along with the shop. Landlords have got compensation, but where will we go in the rainy season? Employment crisis has arisen in front of more than 500 shopkeepers.

At the same time, Bajrang, who runs a cycle shop, said that we had received the notice a few days ago. But on Friday evening, we got an order to vacate the shop and a 24-hour ultimatum was given. There are 10 people in my family. Going to the shop has now become difficult to run a family. Suddenly a lot of our belongings got broken even after taking out the luggage. No one is going to listen to us.

Elevated corridor is to be made from Kutcheri to Piska More ahead of Laxminagar Chowk, this corridor will also be built in Itki Road for some time. For this, for the last few days, the work of demolition of shops and houses has also started from Piska bend. The construction of Ratu Road elevated corridor will be made from Kachari Zakir Hussain Park to Ratu Road, Piska More before Hehal SIRD. It will cost 535 crores in the construction of this 2.45 km bridge.
