Congress leader and former Odisha Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik, who is contesting the upcoming elections from the Paralakhemundi Assembly seat, is taking a break from campaign after suffering from heatstroke.
In a post on his X handle along with a video message, Patnaik said he is down with fever due to the heatstroke. He is undergoing treatment and would soon resume electioneering in Paralakhemundi.
“I write to you with a heavy heart after suffering a heatstroke while campaigning in Paralakhemundi. A subsequent urinary tract infection forced me to return to Bhubaneswar for urgent treatment and rest. Though this pause is temporary, your prayers and support are invaluable as I aim to return to the campaign trail swiftly,” he wrote on X.
Patnaik thanked people for their “understanding and unwavering belief in Congress’ vision for Paralakhemundi’s future”.
Patnaik is involved in a three-cornered fight in Paralakhemundi where the BJP has fielded incumbent MLA K Narayana Rao and the BJD has nominated industrialist Rupesh Panigrahi.
