Bairagarh police have arrested the accused involved in transporting 81 liters of country liquor worth Rs 34500 and a vehicle used in carrying the liquor illegally.
Information was received that a pickup vehicle was coming to Bairagarh from Lalghati side in which liquor was stored illegally.
As soon as the information was received, checking was started at Sant ji's cottage along with patrolling on Lalghati side. A pickup vehicle was seen coming, which after seeing the police standing on the way, stopped its vehicle some distance before checking, out of which one person jumped from the pickup vehicle and ran away taking advantage of the darkness and the other three persons sitting in the said vehicle were arrested by the police.
After searching the vehicle a total of 9 boxes of country liquor (81 litres) worth Rs 34500 were seized in the back of the pickup vehicle amidst the water camps.
The nabbed accused were identified as Brijesh Vishwakarma(29) of Bairagarh, Sanjay Saraswan(32) of Bairagarh and Harsh Sahu(32) of Bairagarh. Police registered a case under section 34 (2) of the Excise Act.
On asking the arrested accused about the name and address of the other absconding accused, the name of the absconding accused was revealed to be Brajesh Yadav, whose search has been started. The arrested accused are being interrogated in relation to the liquor seized. In the action 81 liters of country liquor worth Rs 34500 and vehicle bearing registration number MP04GB1901 were seized.
