Rejected applicant gets appointment in Tarbha

Saturday, 30 March 2024 | SRIKUMAR MAHANTA | SONEPUR

Incidents of gross irregularities in the posting of Anganwadi workers in Tarbha block of Subarnapur district have come to the fore recently.

Previously, The Pioneer had done news regarding the scam in the appointment of an Anganwadi worker of Vimtikra (Narda) Mini Anganwadi Center of Tarbha block.

The job aspirant had also previously filed a petition in the Orissa High Court challenging the appointment of an Anganwadi worker of the Anganwadi Center. The court heard both the parties and remitted to the Additional District Magistrate, Subarnapur to rehear the appeal and pass an order afresh after considering the documents referred to in accordance with law. However, the court ordered that the appellate authority shall dispose of the appeal within a period of two weeks from the date of communication of the order or on production of certified copy thereof by the petitioner. The incident has created quite a buzz in the area.

According to sources, several women had applied for posts of Anganwadi workers in Vimtikra (Narda) Mini Anganwadi Centre of Dubla Panchayat in 2017. However, the then Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) and Sonepur Sub-Collector had given appointment to one Prabhati Chhatria allegedly flouting the norms of recruitment. Anjali Nag, who was also an aspirant, moved the Orissa High Court citing the appointment as illegal and her rejection on the ground that her name did not find place in the survey list of the AWC area as baseless.

On the other hand, as per the Letter Number 601, dated 16.04.2022 of Public Information Officer (PIO), RTI Cell of Child Development Project Office, Anjali Nag is in the Survey list of the AWC area having Family Serial Number 71, which has been verified by Supervisor Shradhanjali Bhoi. The court, while hearing the case found the recruitment guidelines being violated. Meanwhile, the district administration conducted an impartial probe and appointed Anjali.
