Review BLO works on site, not just on data, says CEO to officers

Saturday, 04 May 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

Ensure distribution of voter guide and voter information slip by reaching out to every voter. Work to increase the voting percentage by resolving the reasons for low voting in the past elections. Officials should review the work of BLOs on the spot and not just on the data, said Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar while reviewing the ongoing SVEEP programs in the districts of Khunti, Saraikela-Kharsawan, Ranchi, West Singhbhum, Garhwa, Gumla, Palamu, Simdega and Lohardaga related to the fifth and sixth phase of voting through video conferencing from the Election House on Friday.

He said that the voting percentage will increase by making voters aware through targeted SVEEP activities. Officials should leave no stone unturned for voter participation. Officials should physically inspect the polling stations with low voting and ensure that the voters of the concerned area are motivated to vote by making them aware. Also, assign the responsibility of motivating the voters and bringing them to the polling station to the members of the Booth Level Awareness Group. At the same time, motivate voters to vote through interpersonal communication. Such initiatives will increase the voting percentage. He said that the polling booths should be prepared in such a way that it seems that they are calling the voters to vote.

The CEO said that in areas with low voting, reach out to every house and motivate people to vote. No voter should be left out from voting. For this, prepare a special action plan and give it a concrete shape. In Bundu, Ranchi, instructions were given to run a special campaign at polling booths with low voting and make voters aware. At the same time, instructions were given to ensure distribution of voter information slips while conducting a physical inspection of polling booths with low voting in Khunti district. The District Sweep Officer of Saraikela-Kharsawan was emphasized to physically inspect polling booth number 147 and 148 and resolve the related reasons and motivate the migrant laborers of Lohardaga to participate in the voting.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Neha Arora said that the officers should interact with the voters and reach out to all the voters with innovative ideas for polling booths with low voting. Members of the Booth Level Awareness Group were given the responsibility of motivating voters to vote and bringing them to the polling booth. Joint Chief Electoral Officer Subodh Kumar, OSD Geeta Chaubey, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Devdas Dutta, Deputy Director Public Relations Anand along with officials related to SVEEP of the respective districts were present in the video conferencing.
