Veteran cricketer and former Indian Skipper Sachin Tendulkar today appealed to parents to promote and support girls in the field of sports. Tendulkar with his wife Anjali reached Ranchi on Saturday to attend the Yuwa Foundation programme in Ormanjhi block near the Capital city.
The former Indian Skipper went to the school in Ormanjhi established by Yuva Foundation, which works to train young women football players. There he had a lot of fun with the children. He played with young women players and children.
After attending the program, Sachin said that today is a very special day for him. “I have come here because of the foundation, I have come here for the first time. Our foundation, which is Sachin Tendulkar Foundation, works on three verticals, sports-health and education. We take care of the children in these three areas, after coming here we got to know a lot about the Yuva Foundation, the children have made my day special because the energy they have is inspiring,” he said.
“The way I saw the children looking happy, working hard and also being jealous, reminded me of my childhood. Today I also cut the birthday cake with them. I told them to feed me very little because my weight was increasing, so they took care of my weight and fed me only a little. The Yuwa Foundation that is working here is doing very noble work, they are working very hard with the children. Their commitment to have a positive impact on the lives of children is clearly visible. Our foundation is supporting the Yuva Foundation. Our efforts will be to improve the future of the children,” he told media persons.
