Labour Minister Satyanand Bhokta has said that the Industry and Labour Department should work together for the welfare of workers. Understand your responsibilities and do result-oriented work with full promptness. He said that if there is will to work, then good work can be done using the available resources. He was speaking in a workshop organized on the Employment of Local Candidates Act 2021 and Rules 2022 and Apprentices Act 1961 and Industrial Safety Day/Week in the private sector of Jharkhand at a local hotel in Ranchi on Tuesday. On this occasion, the Minister provided appointment letters to 7 girls in various private sectors.
Bhokta said that during the time of Covid, the state government, under the leadership of the then Chief Minister Hemant Soren, worked to bring the workers stranded outside the state to Jharkhand by plane, train and bus. He said that at the time of Covid, money was sent to the accounts of about 8 lakh Labourers who worked outside the state through DBT. The state government fulfilled its responsibility under the leadership of the then Chief Minister Hemant Soren during the Covid pandemic and ran many schemes for the welfare of Labourers and worked to increase their livelihood by connecting them with those schemes.
Bhokta said that the Labour Department is running many schemes for the welfare of workers. The department is working to provide comforts and facilities to them by using those resources and funds. The responsibility of the Labour Department towards the workers is being fulfilled with full promptness.
Bhokta said that under the Chief Minister Sarathi Scheme, work is being done to make the young men and women skilled. Training has been started in 80 blocks of the state. Work has also been done to provide employment to the youth of the state in various companies by providing training in the divisions. He said that by June 2024, work will be done to provide employment to about 20 thousand youth of the state.
The departmental minister said that the state government makes some rules for the welfare of the workers. The state government is currently implementing the Employment of Local Candidates Act 2021 and Rules 2022 in the private sector of Jharkhand state. He said that initially there are some problems in implementing the rules, but after understanding the rules, they adjust with time. He told the representatives of the industry and placement companies that if they have any suggestion or any problem, then feel free to meet me or talk to the secretary of the department. Your suggestions will be considered and problems will be resolved.
Labour Secretary Mukesh Kumar said that the government is running many schemes for the welfare of workers. He said that in case of death of a Labourer abroad, the state government gives an amount of up to Rs 5 lakh. Addressing the representatives of the industry and Labour world present in the workshop, he said that it is important to discuss Labour reforms. If you have any suggestion or complaint, do not hesitate to share it, your views will definitely be heard. He said that the workers are not aware of many schemes run by the Labour Department, it should be widely publicized.
Many officials of the department, representatives of the industry, members of the Chamber of Commerce and many other dignitaries were present in the workshop.
